In that time I've seen him go from thinking I'm imagining instances of discrimination or microaggression to him calling them out before I could even open my mouth. I definitely consider him "woke" but these past weeks I've seen things TRULY click for him about how deep the systemic racism in this country and the fierce the wounds are. P and I have had brutal conversations over the years (hell over the past few days) and I'm grateful these brutal conversations are FINALLY on everybody's lips. I'm choosing to believe they're not just on lips but also penetrating hearts and turning it into something tangible... something that requires action. That action part is for me as well.
