新宿や渋谷といった都心の交差点では、絶えず人々が往来し東京の活気・喧騒の象徴として、頻繁にメディアに取り上げられています。もちろん、そこは観光客の撮影スポットとしても人気で、同じ交差点でも時間帯・人々・気候等の組み合わせによって、シャッターを切る毎に異なる写真ができあがるのも魅力の一つです。
東急線沿線にも活気ある交差点がたくさんありますが、今回は言わずと知れた「世界一混み合う交差点」である渋谷のスクランブル交差点。
渋谷センター街のウェブサイト（http://center-gai.jp/）によると、1回の青信号につき交差点を渡る人数は、多い時でなんと3,000人。コロナ禍前は海外旅行者からの人気スポットとして、年々その数を増やしてきました。
この交差点の風景も変化を続けています。交差点を取り囲むLEDビジョンや、渋谷スクランブルスクエアなどの新しい高層ビルにより、ますます世界的にインパクトを与える風景となりました。今はすっかりお馴染みとなった渋谷スクランブル交差点でのハロウィンやカウントダウンも10年前はありませんでした。今後この交差点がどのような変化を遂げていくのか、とても楽しみです。

The intersections in Shibuya and Shinjuku are quintessential hubs that picture the hustle and bustle of Tokyo city life. They’re an obvious hot spot for tourists, but shutterbugs have also found a way to enjoy the areas by snapping different shots as the foot traffic, weather and look and feel change across the hours of the day.
You can find plenty of bustling intersections along the Tokyu train lines, but today we’ll highlight the famous Shibuya Scramble, the world’s busiest street crossing.
According to the Shibuya Center Gai website, as many as 3,000 people cross at once during busy hours. In pre-COVID Shibuya, the numbers of overseas tourists continued to increase every year.
But there are still big changes happening here. Washed in LED lights and built up with new, shiny high-rise complexes like Shibuya Scramble Square, this spot has kept its place as one of the world’s most sought-after photo backdrops. Even the Halloween and countdown events we’ve come to know and love from the scramble intersection didn’t exist just 10 years ago. We know there’s even more to expect from this spot as time goes on.
