They somehow know what you truly want to become.” -Steve Jobs Confronting areas of racism is not a Black or White issue. It’s a human issue where often the questions are simple. Is this right? Does this represent equality that the law extends to all? Let’s be choiceful in the necessary conversations with our youth. For we are what we teach. I’d ask you, next, to consider becoming comfortable with being in uncomfortable conversations - designed ultimately for the good. Next action of consideration is to Allies. Let’s activate allies into advocates turned accomplices. Our progress, as a society, depends heavily on your voice, going against the currents and deciding what, or in some cases who, are you willing to leave behind. I’m sure that I’m likely speaking to the choir here- however, as an action let’s be sure that others are expressing their moral arc of conscientiousness of public policies at the ballot box. VOTE. ✅ In these times that are disproportionately affecting some more than others, consider spending with small businesses. With Black businesses over-indexing to adverse impact economically, let's get to the "burning houses" TOO. (See prior post.). Lastly, we should all consider how we are using our time, talents and/or resources to make a difference. Be impactful. Even by yourself, there’s still power in a committee of one. There is another side to COVID and these past couple weeks, of what will surely become one for the history books. A side where things will be better than today.
