I just want to clarify some things before any of y’all make any assumptions or take some things I said out of context. First, I had a great time playing in Texas and it was a privilege to wear Texas across my chest. I felt “uncomfortable” because I had personally experienced racism in Texas and I grew up in the south so I just know how people would’ve reacted to that way of protesting. Second, Jon Daniels and my agent have always supported me and my feelings, and they still do to this day. We all made a group decision that there was too much unknown of what could happen if I were to take that stand. If You were paying attention to sports around that time athletes were losing their jobs and it was scary to me that I could potentially be castrated from the league that I grew up dreaming of playing in. Especially with the decline of African Americans in my sport. So I just want you guys to understand that before you jump to conclusions. Thank you.
