My own sister was detained recently too- they boxed them in and wouldn’t let them leave and waited for curfew to come. This isn’t what America is. Even if, EVEN IF, these people broke the law (which they didn’t) this treatment is beyond unacceptable. These are the actions of an exhausted and angry police force. A police officer upholds the law, they don’t get to pick and choose what works- like not reading Miranda rights, at the very VERY least. This isn’t all police but I would think any good police officer would stand against this type of brutal behavior. Try to remove your anger toward the other side and just read this account of inhumane actions. What the hell kind of secret police bullshit is this? You want your taxes paying for even a second of this?

Defunding police doesn’t mean no police. Anyone advocating for anarchy is wrong, plain wrong and I want my taxes spent wisely. It means taking a hard financial look at how much money the police in your city get, including bonuses, and exploring some reallocation to other areas like education, healthcare or other social programs. @mayorofla has already abandoned plans for a police budget hike. We all live in different cities and are affected differently so try to remember that before you FLIP OUT in the comments. What if this were your mother or your child? What if this were you?
