Instead of posting a black square, I want to highlight the work of Black artist, Mere, @artofmere_, with a few words on why this piece is so important right now. Our current administration abandoned the policing reform efforts that gave the DOJ the authority to investigate and sue law enforcement agencies for unconstitutional policing. We are now feeling the impact of this change. Like many of you, I waited, hoping that our current administration would address this yesterday and charge the other three officers with the murder of George Floyd, but then I realized that this movement is more than that. We can't count on our current administration to make these changes. We are responsible for making these changes when we vote locally. Local elections are more critical now more than ever, from our Sheriffs to our Attorney Generals, and our Mayors who appoint our Police Cheifs. Vote for George Floyd. Vote for every Black woman and Black man who has been murdered at the hands of police officers. Vote to dismantle our country's deeply embedded systems of institutional racism. #justiceforgeorgefloyd
