Johnson, Stormé DeLarverie, & Sylvia Rivera spearheaded the first pride, which we know as the Stonewall riots (yes, the first pride was a RIOT!). Without their lives work, we wouldn’t be here today. It’s literally part of queer people’s legacy to react to oppression anywhere, of any kind, that affects marginalized people. That’s why it’s so important to me that we reclaim that legacy by protecting black lives now & always. I’ve made donations to @theokraproject BlackandPink.org (link is in bio), @blackvisionscollective, @reclaimtheblock, @sylviariveralawproject, & @3wavefund & encourage you to consider redistributing some of your money to these organizations that give back to the communities that are often forgotten & do the work that so many are afraid to do.
