Fuck injustice. Fuck ignorance. Fuck hate. Can you imagine a world without these things? As an American living abroad, it pains me to see the turmoil back home. Ironically, a big reason I decided to stay in Tokyo is because it wasn’t until I left America, the “land of the free,” that I finally felt free to be who I am. Don’t get me wrong Japan has its share of issues, but things I used to see as “normal” in American society is far from acceptable. Yes seeing the violence and destruction hurts. But it’s happening for a reason and the challenge is to think deeply about those reasons. To feel EMPATHY for the oppressed and to change. Ask yourself can you really step into someone else’s shoes? I can only hope the damage done will eventually heal and somehow lead to a better future for us and our children. FOR THE CHILDREN!!
