I am grateful for this art created by @ohhappydani. Our nation is desperate for healing. The truth is, God has NEVER made a person He doesn’t love. It was His idea to make us all unique, so fearfully & wonderfully made. ⁣ ⁣ I don’t know about you but I’m pretty fed up. Watching a video of an innocent man gasping for air brought tears to my eyes. Not only was his American rights taken from him, but he was treated like trash. That “trash” was a father, a son and a friend to so many. 💔 ⁣ I’ve been seeing so many posts on social media fighting hate with hate and I’m not going to do that even though naturally I can easily go there. As MLK said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Like many, I too feel helpless and my heart aches for my black brothers and sisters. I am taken back to this quote I heard when I was in Rwanda, “Change happens when we make someone else’s problems our problems.” My favorite pastor (Rick Warren) shared this message about racism and it opened my eyes in a new way. 👇🏼⁣ ⁣ There are four reasons why God hates prejudice. One, racial prejudice questions God's creation. Two, racial prejudice is a sign of ignorance. Three, racial prejudice disobeys the Great Commandment. Four, racial prejudice is a serious sin.⁣ ⁣ 1. We must see people as God does. “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7)⁣ 2. We must change the way we listen, by listening to everyone with respect. Prejudice is a result of our failure to listen to people. ⁣ 3. We must love everybody the way Jesus does. “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." (John 15:12)⁣ ⁣ Racism is OUR problem ❤️ we’re all in this together.
