I could barely reach the sink when my grandmother told my brother to get out of the kitchen because it was no place for a man. I was sitting on the table eating my cookies when she turned to me and said “you, you wash the dishes, boys don’t belong here” I learned very quickly how to (ugh) “be a lady” and sadly I did reproduce sexism during my early teenage years. It took me months/years of traveling the world to free myself from my own sexist behaviors and start fighting the patriarchal system living within me. Well, about this picture.. For a long time I thought I couldn’t post my body because I should be more modest and that’s unconscious bias. Some girls like to cover up, some girls like to show skin, WHATEVER EMPOWERS THEM is ok, what is not ok is to judge them for it.
