First time (carefully) visiting the legendary poppy fields outside LA. I had never been before despite deeply wanting to, mainly because in previous years due to a super bloom of flowers, hordes of idiots flocked to the preserve and crushed the flowers to the point that they closed the parks 😑 All because people needed to get their social media posts in. I chose not to add to the problem. Nature is My solace and I have a deep respect for it.
The silly thing is, you don’t even have to go far off a path to experience the flowers. And snakes. That’s also rattle snake territory!! Duh.
That being said, it was really magical. Sitting in silence listening to the birds at sunset while they dove in and out of the flowers to hunt was truly beautiful, and a welcome mini adventure day away from the monotony of quarantine.
