A rare encounter with pilot whales in the pelagic realm far offshore from Cape Town. This pod was surprisingly inquisitive and they stayed around for more than 10 minutes. One of the females had a young calf swimming beside her and was especially curious. The big males can be up to 7m (21 feet) and can be a bit intimidating. #southafrica #whales
