The solution to this is to pressure your local representative to push for supermarkets to go plastic free, for water fountains to be installed in public areas across the country, for huge fines to be given for dumping plastic in the ocean. What you personally can do is to refuse to use single use plastic, use reusable containers and bottles for food and drink, find a shop that sells food without plastic packaging or if you don’t have one near you pressure your local shops to give you plastic fee options. And of course, as always, use reusable bags when shopping and recycle.
