When he turned 90 I had to take his drivers license and car away because his eye sight was deteriorating. One day I called to check on him as I did everyday. He lived in my guest house with my Grandmother @princessfanita. Anyway, when I asked Fanita to put Pipa on the phone she said “He left”. I was perplexed! Where did he go....there wasn’t Uber back then. She’s said “he left with the car and didn’t tell me where he was going”! I of course freaked out when he didn’t answr his phone especially since he was almost blind in one eye. Of course I assumed the worst. So we called all the hospitals and emergency services looking for him. I also had everyone who worked for me go to the 4 places he frequented and could possibly be. 1. Nate and Al’s 2. Cheesecake Factory 3. Beverly Hills Hotel Coffee shop 4. @craigsla eating oysters! He wasn’t anywhere to be found and then I remembered another possible spot of his.... Versailles! It was my last hope. I was very nervous because it was getting dark so I drove 100 miles an hour to Versailles and thanked G-d when I saw his car outside. I get out of my car and look thru the pane glass window I spot him sitting alone and having a Giant BEER. He couldn’t see me, but I dial his number one last time to see what he would do before I was going to go into the restaurant and suprise him. He picks up the phone off the table and shakes his head NO or more like ‘Oy Vey’ and hung up the phone. It was obvious he was avoiding me! I stormed in surprising him and asked what he thought he was doing? He looked up from his tall beer and said “I left the house because your Grandmother was making me crazy.” I said “But PIPA it’s dangerous to drive with one eye and no license” he said “Oh Well”. I then said “fine, I understand the need to leave the house without telling anyone, but please don’t drink alcohol It’s dangerous at your age”. He said “your lucky that’s all I did because I was going to smoke a huge Cuban Cigar.”. We sat and talked and laughed for hours. That memory spent with my Grandpa goes down as one of the greatest days of my life. #RIP Pipa!!」4月16日 22時55分 - brettrat
