Jane Goodall has been a hero of mine as long as I can remember. What started out as admiration in her passion for studying and protecting chimpanzees, then evolved into respect for her dedication to speaking up in the defense for not only wildlife but for her conservation and activism for our planet as a whole. We are all interconnected.
In a time where we are experiencing a devastating pandemic outbreak due to “wet markets”, where exotic animals are sold to be eaten or used for medicinal purposes, it goes without saying that these markets should be banned and made illegal- not only for the welfare of all animals and the preservation of endangered wildlife, but obviously for our own health.
In watching the popular Tiger King documentary this past week, I can’t help but be disgusted at the fact that in the USA, there are nearly 10,000 tigers in captivity and there are less than 4,000 left in the wild. In my opinion, all zoos should be closed and the only exotic animals that should be held in any form of captivity, would be for rehabilitation or protection, for those who can not survive in the wild otherwise.
We need to do better as humans, be kind and use our hearts over our minds. As Jane says “Let’s all use the gift of our lives to make this world a better place” From my 💚 to yours ✌🏻#stayhome #bekind #becauseofjane
