Today was supposed to be the day we performed ‘Find Me’ for the last time, in the city we fell in love with, nearly six years ago. Friends, who only knew the floor version of me, were going to see me on the ice for the first time, doing what I love most. Today was supposed to be a celebration, of all the work done, of the end of a self-transformative journey. This program has made me grow like no other did. As an athlete, as an artist, but even more so as a human. As I am writing this, I can see the Bell Center through my window. I can see the empty streets, feel the calm, everywhere, that couldn’t be more contrasting to the way this day was supposed to be. But maybe that’s the way this year was supposed to end. Maybe that’s the way this program was supposed to end, or not end. Just like the story it portrays, maybe it was never meant to have an ending. Maybe we weren’t supposed to say goodbye. For the first time of my life, I don’t know. I don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow, what I’ll do next week, next month. I don’t know when we’ll be back on the ice. And when we don’t know, we believe. And because it’s what ‘Find Me’ is all about, I believe.
