As an athlete for most of my life, I worked daily to understand and build a healthy relationship with my body. I listened and, with time, began to trust my instincts.
I knew how to push when it was time to push and to allow for rest when the work was done or when my body gave me the signs it was time for a little break. As a retired Olympian, making my way through the world and working to figure out my new balance and next steps, I’ve had to rebuild and adjust that relationship. Further, I’ve worked hard to understand the changing ebb and flow of my own life.
With some years of searching, struggle, experience, and growth, I feel I’ve come to respect the value of investing in that same process with one’s emotional self, as well.
