Storm Gloria hit Spain on Monday, submerging coastal cities with floods, 40-foot waves, and sea foam as tidal surge sweeps two miles inland. At least 13 people have unfortunately died so far and over 200,000 people have been left without power. The Spanish town of Tossa de Mar was engulfed in thick marine foam, created as rough seas churn disintegrating organic matter such as algae. Sea foam is usually harmless , but depending on the algae present, as bubbles within the foam pop they can release certain airborne toxins which can irritate eyes and lungs.
