Then last month saw me wheeled out of surgery (ketamine☝🏽now THAT’S a trip🥴) followed by the no nonsense instruction of bed rest and recovery.⠀ ⠀ It hasn’t been fun, but neither has the pain my body has been experiencing the past five years. But for the longest time, instead of going to see a specialist about it, I labeled it a hindrance. Yep, a hindrance. Often I even got ANGRY at my body that the pain was most often a massive inconvenience to me.⠀ ⠀ Oh, the arrogance (me). ⠀ Oh, the exhaustion (my body).⠀ ⠀ Not at all surprisingly, it got worse and worse, and worse til I couldn’t ignore it any longer. When I finally sat myself down in front of a specialist and she asked me how long I had been experiencing the symptoms, I told her a rounded down number of “just a few years”. She looked shocked and when she asked me the reason I had waited so long, the only reply I had was that I didn’t have a good one at all.⠀ ⠀ As I said in a previous post, the body is always talking to us because the body always knows. I had NO problem applying this knowing communication to my business and career, but for whatever reason, didn’t hold my own health to the same importance.⠀ ⠀ I plan on listening to my body like the wise fucking oracle sage goddess she is from now on in.⠀ ⠀ (I am now fine!) But I’m posting this in case you have something your body has been niggling you about. No matter how insignificant it may seem, IF YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR A SIGN to go and get it checked out, this is it.⠀ ⠀ Thank you to the incredible surgical team and nursing staff at Prince of Wales, Randwick. Also to my nearest and dearest for all the love you’ve showered me with and especially L for uprooting your entire life to care for me post op.
