In the aftermath of the unfortunate (racist/homophobic/cultural elitist) “Disco Sucks” movement came a period known as “Boogie” which sorta felt like disco but at a slower funk speed. Accessible two step BBQ jams that even your old grandparents could groove to. It wasn’t an easy transition. Its actual proprietors (most say #Chic) got caught in disco’s house fire & dissolved way too soon but not before giving us gems: #GoodTimes alone gave us a 15 million seller in #RappersDelight; also the first rap song to go to number one in #Rapture; Queen’s hardest groove #AnotherOneBitesTheDust—-even its cheap imitation was a hit #BounceRockSkateRoll. We can’t forget #OffTheWall (better than Thriller fight me) or #BeforeILetGo the BBQest of all BBQ jams—-still rule to this day—-Ask The #Beyhive. Special mention should go to #TonniSmith singer of the monsterous #JamaciaFunk by #TomBrowne (@tombrownejamaicafunk) —-she may not have been a household word but this song means EVERYTHING to us. RIP REST IN MELODY.
