I’m from a small town on Cape Breton Island, and like many people who grow up in small towns, I couldn’t wait to leave when I got older. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I moved away for university and after, ended up travelling to over 20 countries all around the world and saw so many incredible places. And then, I moved back to Nova Scotia.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I started to really explore Cape Breton Island for the first time and was blown away by the beauty that had been in my own backyard all along! There are tons of hiking trails with stunning views of mountains meeting the ocean and ones that run along rugged coastlines. They are especially beautiful in the fall when the colours get exceptionally vibrant!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I’ve had so many incredible adventures on the island too! Camping beside the ocean, kayaking along ocean cliffs, snowshoeing my favourite trails, sailing in the Bras d’Or Lakes,⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ If hiking isn’t your thing, the 298 km Cabot Trail winds along the coast and through the mountains. It circles the northern tip of the island and has no shortage of breathtaking views!
