Yak dung was looming in the air, and the 16,000 feet of altitude made each step harder than the one before. When I insisted we go back inside, he handed me his camera and taught me how to use it so I could take his portrait, too. To my surprise, the entire trekking team and tea house staff was inside putting together a birthday party for me.
