ALIGADO, a school located in the Philippines. Not only because it’s a great picture of the school, but because, if we told you the story of how it came to be, you probably wouldn’t believe us. Well, here it goes…our founder, Mike, heard from our partner @hopeinabottleph about a school that’s located in a remote part of General Santos City, where the students who attend it walk between 3-5 hours every week. They get there on Monday, stay at the school throughout the week, and then walk home on Friday. You may be wondering why they would walk all that way, and truth be told, in remote communities, this is the length families will go to ensure kids get an education and a meal every day. There was no running water, electricity, and the school was not an actual building. So not only did we help build a safe structure for kids to learn in, but we also decided to get chickens for everyone. Yes, you read that right, chickens. This way, every kid has a chicken friend and are getting fresh eggs to fuel their learning. Pretty neat. In short, we created the Vita Coco Project to help provide actual tools and resources for our coconut farming communities and their families. And we're excited to share that next year attendance will double! Happy #InternationalDayofEducation」1月25日 3時00分 - vitacoco
