Jean-Paul Gaultier said goodbye to the runway after 50 years on Wednesday night in Paris. Not one space in the 2,500-seat gilded Theatre du Chatelet was empty (former supermodel and French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was in one; designer Nicolas Ghesquiere in another), and when Boy George brought the whole thing to a close with “The Church of the Poison Mind,” Mr. Gaultier himself was dancing, and the audience was on its feet.
