Each of the craftsmen and women in the Shizukuishi Watch Studio has a watchmaker’s desk customized to his or her needs. Using a traditional Japanese art craft, Iwayadou Tansu, these desks are made from wood and coated in a locally made lacquer. The dial of this watch, SBGJ201, is inspired by the contours of Mount Iwate, the imposing mountain that overlooks the studio and its presentation box is made in the same way as the watchmaker’s desk. In every way, you can feel the spirit of the watch’s birth place and Grand Seiko’s uniquely Japanese sense of the nature of time.
