Photo by @estherhorvath | We all know that the Arctic Ocean sea ice is melting, but who are the scientists delivering this information and how do they work in one of the world's most remote locations? The Station Nord military and science base, in Greenland, is home to the IceBird program. Scientists from the Alfred Wegener Institute come twice a year to measure the sea ice at its maximum thickness in winter and at its minimum at the end of summer. Based on their findings, since 2001 Arctic sea ice has decreased by 30% in the summer months.
