In some families, children are expecting holiday gifts today—from the Three Kings (Reyes Magos in Spanish), not Santa Claus. On the Catholic calendar, the Three Kings are celebrated on the 6th of January, when, according to the Bible, they arrived in Bethlehem with gifts for the newborn Jesus.
This set of Three Kings is from the town of Morovis, Puerto Rico, probably crafted around 1890 by a member of the Rivera family.
