We don’t recommend it. It dates back to 1934. It was served at a Birthday Ball for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Birthday Balls raised money for polio patients. The balls paved the way for a national organization: the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, which Roosevelt founded on this day (January 3) in 1938. The organization still exists today … under a different name: The March of Dimes.
