Almost since I began photography, there’s always been an audio recorder with me...first a cassette recorder, then a DAT, various digital recorders and now my iPhone with external stereo or binaural microphones. Over the years I’ve become as much of a field recordist as I am a photographer. I want to thank my father for this interest when he gave me a cassette recorder...that small box changed me forever. This year when I’m home in the Berkshires and not on assignment, I want to go into the archive and into your consciousness...photography creates sounds in the mind, and audio brings images into our imagination. I hope you enjoy our collective world a little more deeply when photographs become alive in their natural theater of sound.
