If 2019 has taught me anything it’s to cling a little tighter to those you love. While in extremely remote Alaska on a job I got a call from my wife on the morning of the 2nd day of a 14 day trip... my grandma had just died of cancer. I looked into about every option to get home for the funeral, for my family & for my mom and it was impossible. So I missed it.
It would have been an easier death to bare had her final years not been a struggle with addiction & her own personal demons. I felt the full weight of the guilt for not being there ... but I luckily had one last visit with her before she left. She knew it was the end & said I could always find her in the places I loved. Yesterday I took her to one of my favorite places & let the wind take her away.
