(swipe gallery) 🎊 The end of a decade and the entry into one where none of this ever happened. In 2009 my videos went viral in Japan and at the age of 13 and 14 I was able to work as an idol, experiencing more once-in-a-lifetime moments than any one life should have.
I thought I would share a collection of some old photos and highlights from that specific time period. It’s strange to look back and often quite surreal. I have mainly very happy memories from this time, but my teenage years as a whole felt quite emotionally turbulent in part as a result.
The first time I visited Japan was in August 2009. I was given a dance to learn on the plane over, and once I arrived on the other side we went to Animelo Summer Live where I performed that dance in front of 25,000 people.
The last time I visited Japan was in 2017. At midnight outside of a convenience store, 8 years later, a stranger stopped me in the street and asked me, are you beckii cruel?
Forever humbling and grateful to have taken up space in your consciousness.
