I started meditating a year and half ago, because I was on my phone mindlessly, my attention span was too short, and my patience was tattered. I am no longer on my phone all day long, I have cultivated a lot more patience for things and people I used to find stupid, and I can now pay attention to things for long periods of time. If you are experiencing too much noise, or any self-doubt, I would really recommend giving yourself the gift of downloading a meditation app in the new year. It changed my life, and if I can get down with meditation, you can too.
