Hut life in the backcountry is the time to regroup, eat well, have a beverage, dry your ski clothes above the wood burning stove, break out the maps to contemplate the next mountain objective and play highly competitive rounds of scrabble. “Cook Dan” kept the room alive with satiable smells and contagious banter as the team was either on the verge of passing out from the day or obtaining a third wind. It's these moments where connecting with friends, family and those needing warmth are most important. Your family is anyone who you break bread with, adventure with and make the world a better place with.
The stars above were limitless. The moon light kissed tomorrow slopes as they yearned for more soft turns. The ladder, although daunting, would be the next challenge faced.
