💧The Niyodo River in Shikoku is one of Japan’s purest and clearest rivers. Its distinct aquamarine color is known as Niyodo Blue. 🏞️ Rising from Mt. Ishizuchi, western Japan’s highest mountain, it flows for 124 km across 2 x prefectures. The secret to its color and clarity is believed to come from the 1.5 km difference in the height of the river as it travels from beginning to end. This creates a fast-flowing current, ensuring the bottom of the river is continually cleaned. ✨ One of the best places to see its crystal-clear waters is in the Yasui Valley. Here, a branch of the Niyodo River allows visitors to enjoy its pristine beauty surrounded by old-growth forest.🌲🌳🌲
