白石阿島さんのインスタグラム写真 - (白石阿島Instagram)「Finallllllyyy the end of a long competition season🥵. My first time competing on the World Cup circuit and Olympic qualifying events was exhilarating. It opened my eyes to the hectic schedule that athletes go through year after year. Up until 2019, I was competing in a handful of global competitions a year and focused on school and outdoor climbing goals for the most part. This year, with the Olympics around the corner, I was competing in a different country almost every other week. Preparing for speed, bouldering and lead was a perplexing obstacle all athletes had to deal with after the announcement of the new combined format. It was a big battle of figuring out the right balance of training/ rest for each discipline that still baffles me. There were many moments of joy and laughter on the road and inevitably exhaustion and doubt tagged along as well. The deeper into the season I went, the more “worn out” I felt from the constant tension and pressure of competition climbing. My performance also worsened because of this clouded mindset I developed. Qualifications for the Olympics has been a big goal of mine but this time it didn’t happen. I’m incredibly proud of @kyra_condie , @brookeclimbs and @nathaniel.coleman for climbing superbly and getting tix to Tokyo 2020. It was an honor to be able to represent the USA with an incredible crew of coaches, PTs and athletes.
