#ArtBasel: Damien Hirst’s 2007 sculpture, “Hymn,” stands at almost a meter and a half high; a figure cast in silver whose arms and legs have been cut and internal organs revealed. The work is a testament to both human strength and frailty. By unravelling the body, Hirst interrogates the transition between fear and desire; religion and science; and art and beauty.
