Food for thought. Why aren’t models seen as co-creators? Why can a photographer dislike a frame, argue it makes their work look bad or misrepresents them, but a model cannot? Why are we often excluded from creative conversations about the work we are central to creating? Why is it the norm that we (models and for that matter hair, makeup, styling, manicure etc) don’t have any ownership of the photos we co-create? (These quotes come from an article in the New York Times about Kaori, one of Araki’s muses, and the troubled history of artist-muse relationships by Motoko Rich.)
