Here are some things I noted and want to share with you all! • - Flying from London cost us £40 each ($50 USD) with Ryanair. Return trip. • - It’s possible to live cheaply here. Like.. extremely cheap.. keep reading. • - All the main touristic churches cost 50-100 Hryvna.. under £3 (under $5). • - We’ve been parking in central Kiev for free or if we do have to pay... 30p ($0.40) per hour. • - Uber works and is also cheap. A 30min trip across the city cost us less than £3 ($3.50). • - We had a huge amazing sushi meal with 4 people for 1000 Hryvna... £30 ($40). In England this would have been £100+ • - Oleksii sent a jumper and trousers to a friends house (who lives 4hrs away). He gave it to the post office in just a plastic bag. It cost £2 ($2.50) to send and the post office package it up for you. • - Battery watches. In England one watch costs £8-10 to replace in a store. Here, I gave my 3 watches in and it cost £9 total for all to be replaced. • - I got probably one of the best manicure services in my life for £20 ($30). Shellac classic french nails. Oleksii said outside of Kiev it would have cost half that or the same including a pedicure. • - People will avoid paying anything to park. So people try to park anywhere.. even squeezing in the smallest of spaces esp on sidewalks. In London there’s no way you can do this without getting a ticket. • - The metro costs 8 Hryvna... 20p ($0.30). • - There is no Starbucks at all in Ukraine. • - Buses are so small.. and yellow.. 😄 • - It’s true not many people smile here. If you smile at them you get a very serious (almost angry) look back. • - People may say they don’t speak English but they understand more than you think. • - Coming from a multi-cultural city, I’ve not seen one black/mixed person during my entire time here. • - You can walk anywhere. Including down the side of/across highways.. very common. Would definitely be seen as crazy in the US or England. I highly recommend Kiev.
