First look at New York-based artist @mickalenethomas’ striking reimagining of @thebassmoa’s galleries as an entirely immersive experience, inspired by the parties hosted by her mother, Sandra Bush, in the 1970s, as well as the local New Jersey play ‘Put a Little Sugar in my Bowl’ (similarly performed by Bush, friends and family). Thomas has conjured an apartment setting, nodding to the domestic aesthetic of the period with faux wood paneling, wallpaper and custom seating reupholstered with the artist’s signature textiles. Opening today, ‘Better Nights’ is on view until 27 September 2020 – stay tuned for our review.
