Our 1995/1996 releases of “What’s Really Goin’ on” and “What’s Really Goin’ Wrong” both had fish segments in them before hand. It was @drewtodd_ who then followed @psycho_ward6.0 n Cory around with a camera and brought us the concept of a film specially about the “fish” we were building. As was the norm, @mikereola toiled for a year on editing. I had the easy job of nit picking his and Drew’s work, selecting most the soundtracks, designing the covers and writing snotty copy blurbs. “On The Road...” was a collab with British vid guy, “Spike“, who was immortalized on the cover. I remember standing on the roof of #JustinMattison’s vintage ‘60s sedan, at the end of a deserted inland road, to get the shot of Spike. We painted black on a tire and rolled it across butchers paper to get the tread texture. All lettering and logos were drawn by hand. I’m pretty sure @maxdermind did the computer layout on the 5’5” cover and @larrybeard did “On The Road”. We’d take the finished “master” to these slimey “Replication houses”, where there was hundreds of #VCRs stacked to the ceilings, and they would make our copies for us. Little Asian ladies sticking the white stickers on the tapes, then sliding into the little cardboard boxes. When finished, Mike would pack and ship them himself to all East Coast surfshop, while @reinolandino would drive the entire California Coast, delivering them by hand ( Mike and I didn’t have cars half the time ). These were classic times, being young and creating. Learning to design boards, graphics, clothing, films and advertisements. Surrounded by talented young surfers and creative people...making as much noise as possible with little to no money and limited resources. I love the new mediums of @instagram and Websites, but there’s some thing lost in the communal culture of kids sitting around watching surf vids, over and over, together, in their homes.” #lostenterprises #lostsurfboards」11月24日 3時51分 - lost9193
