At dawn a gigantic leatherback turtle disguises her nest; using her front flippers to spread sand over a wide area, she camouflages the exact location of the egg chamber. Grande Riviere, along the north coast of Trinidad, has the highest nesting densities of leatherback sea turtles in the world. During the May to July peak season up to 300 leatherbacks nest along this just 800 m long stretch of sandy beach every night.
