The salt terraces of Yanjin, Tibet along Route 318 of the Tea Horse Road. Salty water is pumped up from wells along the banks of the Mekong River to fill the shallow pools made of the local red clay. It takes 2 weeks to evaporate the water leaving deposits of white salt.
