Then I grabbed a giant crayon and drew squiggles. 😌 I’m still hurting and it has been hard to draw a line under it. I have spent the last few weeks thinking about what went wrong and trying to find an explanation. Finding an “excuse” would be the easy way to move on. The truth is, there is no explanation and it’s pretty simple. I raced stupid. But then I look at the year as a whole. I packed a bag for indoors in February and left San Diego for Europe. After a disappointing indoor season, I walked off the track at Düsseldorf having ran shit again and decided right then that I wasn’t going back. I lived out of the bag I packed for indoors, in Airbnb’s, for 3 months. I moved back to Loughborough, found a new coach who has challenged me in different ways and new training partners who have pushed me on. This sport has broken my heart many times and it ain’t easy, but this year I rediscovered my love for it. I had so much fun along the journey and it genuinely brought me happiness I haven’t felt in years. I worked my way back from running 2.02 indoors to running 1.58 in front of a British crowd. I did some crazy sessions and saw a glimpse of how good I can be. Sadly I didn’t get to show that this time round. 😞 I finish the season ranked back inside the top 10 in the world, but most importantly, with mistakes to learn from, inspired by the performances of others and with an increased belief in my ability for Tokyo 2020.」10月8日 23時58分 - lynseysharp
