With the help of Mark Stewart of The Pop Group punk band, the group gained exposure in London.  As a consequence, The Wild Bunch became the first hip hop collective to sign a major record label in the UK. They produced two projects for Island Records «Tearing down the Avenue» and «Friends and Countrymen». On the B-side of «Tearing down the Avenue» was «The Look of Love», featuring Shara Nelson.  The track fused the aesthetic of reggae  and covers of classic American R&B and pop songs .  Instead of reggae the crew used a Hip Hop beat and a pop standard from Baccarat and David.  Many in the music industry pin point this Wild Bunch track,using Grand Central Station - «The Jam breakbeat» ,as the birth of the trip hop movement in the UK.  The idea would be copied by others soon after,such as Smith & Mighty, and give them great success in the UK charts.  Nellee Hooper would go on to use the beat of «The Look of Love» on the biggest hits of  Soul II Soul’s «Keep on moving» and «Back to life», inspiring the US R&B/ Hip Hop explosion with Mary J Blige.  This small group of friends from Bristol has had a pivotal impact on modern music culture worldwide.  The Wild Bunch would morph into “Massive Attack”. Tricky would emerge as a solo artist in his own right  and Bristol would become the new capital of progressive music in the UK. .
