Shepard Faireyさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Shepard FaireyInstagram)「I was very sad to hear that Cars lead singer, Ric Ocasek passed away. I became a fan of the Cars as a kid listening to Top 40 radio, and I was given the 7” of their song “Shake It Up” as a gift in 1981 when I was 11 which was spun frequently. I eventually collected most of the band’s records and I was excited to find out that Ric Ocasek produced Bad Brain’s second album, Rock for Light, making himself a bridge between the New Wave Vs, Punk camps. Ric later produced the Blue Album for Weezer, which I was initially dismissive of,(mostly because I’d entered a vortex where nothing but the Melvins and Black Sabbath were heavy enough, the Melvins cover the Cars’ Candy-O by the way...) but I grew to see as an absolute masterpiece. When my future wife Amanda @amandafairey invited me to her apartment for our second date, I was listening to the Cars in the car, and when I went into her apartment she was listening to the same album… that seemed like a good omen since I can’t date people with bad taste in music. Amanda also shot this photo of me with Ric in 2014 at the after party for the final Colbert Report show.
