This Dante Gabriel Rossetti watercolour is on public display for the first time in decades – catch it in our free prints and drawings exhibition in Room 90a.

It was painted by the artist in the 1850s, and sold to his friend William Morris as part of a series of seven medieval-inspired watercolours. The grisly scene shows two knights – Dinadan and Breuze – from the legend of King Arthur fighting while a dead man hangs from a tree behind, and a woman is held against her will.
