Retour aujourd’hui sur une salle emblématique du musée : le Salon Carré. - 🖼 A l’extrémité de la Grande Galerie, le Salon Carré abrite d’abord, en 1725, les expositions de l'Académie royale sous le nom de "Salon". A partir de 1795, on y alterne la présentation de peintures du musée et le Salon des artistes vivants. - 👀 Ce tableau, « Vue du grand Salon Carré, au musée du Louvre » réalisé en 1861 par Gisueppe Castiglione, reflète l'état de la salle redécorée en 1851. On y expose alors des chefs-d’œuvre de la peinture de différentes écoles. Vous pouvez d’ailleurs reconnaître plusieurs tableaux toujours présents dans le musée ! - ✍️ Au-delà des œuvres, cette peinture offre également un aperçu des visiteurs qui fréquentaient le musée au milieu du XIXe siècle. On y distingue une copiste sur la gauche reproduisant une large peinture, deux visiteurs étrangers sur la droite. From 1795, it was devoted to the presentation of paintings of the museum and the “Salon” of living artists. - 👀 This painting, “View of the Salon Carré, at the musée du Louvre” made in 1861 by Giuseppe Castiglione, depicts the room after it was redecorated in 1851. It was then dedicated to masterpiece paintings from different movements. You can actually recognize several paintings still on display in the museum! - ✍️ Beyond the works, this painting also offers an insight of the visitors who went to the museum in the mid-19th century.
