Did you see his light!!! . I met him a few times. The first time, I was directing the behind the scenes of a shoot with Kate Moss (I know!) - but as a photographer all I truly cared about was Peter, Peter, Peter - of course. . Of all the people on the shoot, he was the first one to ask me my name, and to remember it. And to come joke with me. And to try to understand what the hell was my job exactly. . So yes. Peter was a genius, and he was curious, kind. And funny. Just good, good. None of the fashion drama and ego - and I have seen crazy ego. But here is the heart of my story - and it’s about art and passion. . Peter was exhausted that day. His back was killing him (photographer’s backs!!! I almost destroyed mine with these heavy lenses) and he had to shoot the next day. And the next. And the next. Damn, he showed me his schedule and it gave me a panic attack. No days off. All around the world. For months on end. . There was a diner that night, and he told me he was going to cancel. I said, yeah! Totally you should get some rest. He was like nooooo you’re crazy? I’m going to spend my night editing. I said - okay then you’re the crazy one. . But he answered - I love it. This is what I do. This is what I am here for. I’m excited to go to my room and look at the photos. That keeps me up at night. That’s just my thing! . . . Keeping the passion alive, knowing what’s “your thing” - keeping close to the core of our craft, after so many years, after so much success, after so much money, remembering that what counts is to feed the dreamer inside...
