A remarkably complete skull belonging to an early human ancestor has been discovered in Ethiopia. The skull represents the ancestor known as Australopithecus anamensis, that lived between 3.9 and 4.2 million years ago. "A. anamensis was already a species that we knew quite a bit about, but this is the first cranium of the species ever discovered," said Stephanie Melillo, a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology.
