She was 64 years old and had been attempting the crossing for the past four years. ⁣ ⁣ Along her journey six years ago, she weathered the dangers of those sharks and the treacherous currents of the Gulf Stream—on top of the exhaustion of swimming for over 50 straight hours. ⁣ ⁣ When she climbed up onto the beach in Key West, she shared some words of wisdom with supporters gathered to greet her: “One: Never, ever give up. Two: You’re never too old to chase your dreams.
